When was IPS started?
IPS was started in the British Time in the year 1861, then its name was Indian Imperial Police, and then in 1947 when India got independence from Britain, then its name was changed to IPS.
In the year 1861, when our country was under British rule, the British started the Indian Imperial Police. And the highest post or rank of the Indian Imperial Police used to be Inspector General. But then only British people could be admitted in it or they only got jobs. Then later in the year 1920, the Indian Imperial Police was opened for Indians as well. After 1920, Indians could also be admitted to the Indian Imperial Police by taking an entrance exam.
