Its Headquarters are in Delhi and its Directorates are located in various states of India. As of 1st January 2021, Lt. Gen Tarun Kumar Aich is the Director-General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

Flag of NCC

The current NCC flag was introduced in 1954. It has three colors red dark blue and light blue. These colors represent the three services of the Corps, i.e. Red represents the Army, Dark Blue represents the Navy and Light Blue represents the Air Force.

After that your NCC training will start, if there is no NCC course in your school or college, then you can join NCC in any school or college around you. There are 2 divisions in NCC, First Junior Division and Second Senior Division. You have to join any one of these divisions according to your age and class.

NCC was established with the National Cadet Corps Act, it took place on 14 July 1947. The NCC was originated under the Indian Defense Act 1947, with the aim of meeting the shortage of the Army.

  1. Preference is given to NCC candidate in state and central government appointments.
  2. 64 seats are reserved in the Indian Military Academy for the candidates who have C certificate of NCC.
  3. For NCC candidates, there are 6 vacancies in every Navy course and 10 percent relaxation in Air Force in every course.
  4. Candidates who have NCC B or C certificate do not have to give written exam of CDS in Short Service Commission.
